This study aims to examine the role of interactive communication by live streaming hosts in impulsive purchasing on TikTok Shop. The development of digital commerce through live streaming enables product information delivery and interaction between hosts and consumers to take place directly and in real time. Interactive communication involves responding to questions, explaining product characteristics, providing information, and engaging consumers during live streams. This study employs a qualitative approach using a literature review method. Data were obtained from 10 scientific articles published between 2021 and 2026 that are relevant to host communication, live streaming interactivity, TikTok Shop, and impulsive purchasing. The literature was searched through Google Scholar and analyzed descriptively and qualitatively by comparing and synthesizing findings from previous studies. The results indicate that host communication and interaction during live streaming are associated with impulsive purchasing. Clear information delivery, prompt responses, two-way interaction, and consumer engagement may encourage purchasing urges through psychological experiences during live streaming. However, host interactivity does not always have a consistent influence. Impulsive purchasing may also be influenced by perceived enjoyment, host credibility, promotions, live streaming quality, consumer experience, and content presentation. Therefore, interactive communication by live streaming hosts is relevant to understanding impulsive purchasing on TikTok Shop, but it is not the only factor involved.
