Abstract

The research, titled "Plot in Justin Lin’s The Fate of The Furious," aims to explore how the plot is developed in the movie "The Fate of The Furious" directed by Justin Lin and identify the components of the plot structure present in the film. The study utilizes Freytag's plot methods (1863) as its theoretical framework. The research methodology involves determining the data sources, collecting data, and analyzing the data based on Freytag's methods. The data are classified according to these methods, and calculations are conducted to understand the presence and elements of the plot in "The Fate of The Furious." The theoretical foundation for analyzing the plot methods comprises the five steps outlined by Freytag in his book "An Exposition of Dramatic Composition and Art." This theoretical framework is applied to scrutinize the movie, considering both the dialogue and each scene. The findings reveal five essential steps in the plot structure: exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and denouement. These plot elements serve as a narrative framework for "The Fate of The Furious," shaping the events, conflicts, and resolutions that unfold throughout the film.

Abstract

This paper analyzes the distinctive settings in Derek Kolstad's John Wick movie, emphasizing its unique portrayal of the Continental Hotel in the USA and its reflection of contemporary American society. Using qualitative research methods, the study examines both primary data from the movie script and secondary data from relevant sources. The findings highlight the film's use of physical, time, and social environment settings. The physical setting unfolds in a fictional, gritty version of urban settings, primarily New York City. Time setting is conveyed through markers like continuous action, character development, and visual cues. The social environment setting explores family dynamics, social institutions, and the presence of law enforcement. The analysis concludes by summarizing the film's use of setting to create atmosphere, act as a dominant element, and contribute to the overall narrative, enhancing our understanding of its acclaimed intense action sequences and exploration of a life immersed in violence.

Abstract

Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memperkuat ekowisata dalam rangka mendukung pembangunan berkelanjutan di Desa Jagapati, Kabupaten Badung. Program ini mencakup berbagai kegiatan seperti pemanfaatan limbah untuk material konstruksi berkelanjutan, pengembangan panduan wisata bilingual, sosialisasi pengelolaan limbah berbasis teknologi, serta edukasi lingkungan bagi masyarakat. Selain itu, program pemberdayaan masyarakat juga dilaksanakan, termasuk pengelolaan sampah dengan sistem TPS3R, peningkatan kesadaran terhadap ekowisata, serta peningkatan kualitas pendidikan melalui bimbingan belajar dan pelatihan bagi tenaga pendidik. Kegiatan ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan observasi dan wawancara untuk memahami dampak program terhadap masyarakat. Hasil program menunjukkan antusiasme yang tinggi dari masyarakat dalam mengikuti kegiatan yang berkontribusi pada peningkatan kualitas hidup dan lingkungan. Dengan implementasi konsep ekowisata yang berbasis konservasi, pemberdayaan masyarakat, serta edukasi, diharapkan Desa Jagapati dapat menjadi model desa wisata yang berkelanjutan.

Abstract

This study identifies the moral values embodied by the main character in the script of Wish (2023), a movie written by Jennifer Lee. The research applies the theoretical framework of Linda and Richard Eyre’s Teaching Your Children Values (1993), supported by Carol K. Sigelman and David R. Shaffer’s Life Span Human Development (1995). A qualitative descriptive method was employed, with the movie script serving as the primary data source. Data were collected through repeated readings and note-taking techniques to extract dialogues reflecting moral values. The analysis reveals that the main character exhibits 12 distinct moral values, categorized into two groups: values of being honesty, courage, peaceability, self-reliance and potential, self-discipline and moderation, fidelity and chastity and values of giving loyalty and dependability, respect, love, unselfishness and sensitivity, kindness and friendliness, and justice and mercy. These values collectively reflect the character’s inner integrity and outward compassion, demonstrating the importance of both personal growth and social harmony. The study’s novelty lies in its focused analysis of a contemporary animated film through the lens of established moral education theory. Practically, it emphasizes how animated narratives can serve as effective tools for moral development, especially in younger audiences. The study contributes to the field of literary and film analysis by highlighting the social impact of cinematic storytelling in promoting ethical behavior and community-mindedness.

Abstract

Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk mengurangi angka penyandang buta aksara. Kegiatan ini dilakukan dengan cara sosialisasi, koordinasi, dan bimbingan belajar. Dua kegiatan tersebut juga didukung oleh tiga program pendukung. Program-program tersebut dapat dilakukan berkat kerja sama Universitas Warmadewa dengan masyarakat Desa Duda, khususnya kepada masyarakat lansia juga SDN 1 Duda dan SDN 3 Duda. Dalam kegiatan bimbingan belajar, diimplementasikan pendekatan individual. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode kualitatif, dan pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode interview dan observasi lapangan. Sosialisasi yang diberikan untuk masyarakat lansia Desa Duda berisikan materi seputar buta aksara. Bimbingan belajar yang diberikan untuk siswa sekolah dasar yang dibagi menjadi kelompok kelas 1-3 berupa materi membaca, menulis, dan berhitung. Sedangkan, untuk kelompok kelas 4-6 diberikan bimbingan belajar tenttang Bahasa Inggris. Program pendukung yang dilakukan berupa program UKM, pelepasan bibit ikan nila, dan pembuatan green house.
