Abstract

This study aimed to examine the role of maternal self-efficacy in predicting life satisfaction among postpartum mothers and to investigate the moderating effect of husband support on this relationship. A quantitative correlational research design was employed involving 406 first-time postpartum mothers with infants younger than six months residing in Bandung City, Indonesia. Participants were selected using accidental sampling. Data were collected using the Perceived Maternal Parenting Self-Efficacy (PMP S-E), the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS), and the Postpartum Social Support Questionnaire (PSSQ). The data were analyzed using Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) to examine both the direct effect of maternal self-efficacy on life satisfaction and the moderating role of husband support. The findings indicated that maternal self-efficacy had a positive and significant effect on life satisfaction among postpartum mothers. Furthermore, husband support significantly strengthened the positive relationship between maternal self-efficacy and life satisfaction, indicating a moderating effect. Mothers with higher confidence in their parenting abilities experienced greater life satisfaction, particularly when accompanied by strong emotional, informational, and practical support from their husbands.
