Abstract

Cleanliness, Beauty, and Environmental Comfort (K3L) workers at Universitas Padjadjaran face economic constraints that may contribute to financial scarcity, a subjective experience in which financial demands are appraised as exceeding available resources. This study aimed to examine the relationship between gratitude and financial scarcity among K3L workers at Universitas Padjadjaran. A quantitative cross-sectional correlational design was employed with 172 workers selected through simple random sampling from a population of 299. Data were collected using the Indonesian Gratitude Scale (SBI, 30 items, α = .913) and the Indonesian version of the Psychological Inventory of Financial Scarcity (PIFS-IDN, 12 items, α = .819), and were analyzed using Pearson correlation. The results showed a significant negative relationship with a large effect size between gratitude and financial scarcity (r = −.763, p < .001). All dimensions of both variables were also significantly and negatively correlated, with the strongest association found between gratitude and rumination and worry (rs = −.624). These findings indicate that higher gratitude is associated with a lower tendency to perceive financial resources as insufficient, while not diminishing the objective economic limitations experienced by the workers.
