Student data administration governance is an important component of educational management because it is closely related to information accuracy, service effectiveness, reporting, and decision-making in schools. This study aims to analyze the implementation of student data administration governance, identify the obstacles encountered, and examine the efforts undertaken by the school to improve the effectiveness of student data management at SMA Negeri 1 Muaro Jambi. This study employed a qualitative approach using a case study design. Data was collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving the principal, head of administration, administrative staff, and vice principal for student affairs. Data were analyzed through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was strengthened through source and technique triangulation. The findings indicate that student data administration governance has a relatively clear management structure involving planning, task distribution, standard operating procedures, implementation, supervision, and evaluation. The school has also utilized the Dapodik system and GUCIMAS application to support student information management. However, implementation has not been fully optimal due to incomplete data, uneven coordination, limited technological competence among administrative staff, disorganized archives, and inadequate digital data backup. Improvement efforts include strengthening coordination, optimizing technology utilization, developing administrative staff competencies, and continuously evaluating and improving the archiving system. The study confirms that effective student data governance is determined not only by technological availability but also by human resource competence, clear procedures, coordination, and data quality control.
