Abstract

General Background Continuous industrial operations demand reliable machinery equipped with secured electrical drivers. Specific Background Three-phase motors powering fluid systems in gear fabrication machines face abnormal conditions, particularly sustained excessive currents and phase failures that elevate coil temperatures. Knowledge Gap Despite widespread availability, practical diagnostic workflows and precise resetting protocols for these safety devices within active operational environments require systematic documentation to prevent recurring degradation. Aims This study investigates the application, inspection sequence, and maintenance procedures of bimetallic safety mechanisms on industrial equipment. Results Qualitative observation demonstrates that these mechanisms accurately detect sustained currents, signaling the control circuit to disconnect the primary contactor. Field practices establish that resetting the mechanism must strictly follow a comprehensive mechanical and electrical diagnosis, such as verifying pump resistance and phase balance, rather than merely executing an immediate manual reset. Novelty The research explicitly maps theoretical inverse-time trip characteristics to practical troubleshooting workflows on active gear cutting machinery. Implications Adjusting parameters according to nameplate specifications and enforcing rigorous pre-reset inspections guarantees reliable operation, mitigates overheating risks, and prevents production disruptions. Highlights: Bimetallic components detect sustained excessive currents and trigger control circuits to disconnect the primary contactor. Executing comprehensive diagnostic checks on pump resistance and phase balance is mandatory before resetting devices. Adjusting trip parameters based on nameplate specifications prevents severe overheating and secures continuous industrial production.
