Abstract

Low student interest in Pancasila Education, particularly regarding Regional Cultural Diversity, often stems from a lack of digital learning media variations in schools. Teachers still heavily rely on text and static 2D images, which fall short of meeting the cognitive needs of technology-dense Generation Alpha students. This experimental study evaluated the effectiveness of Augmented Reality (AR) media in boosting the learning interest of fifth-grade elementary school students using a One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Through saturated sampling, all 31 students participated in the study. Data gathered via Likert-scale questionnaires, observations, and interviews were analyzed using the Paired Samples T-Test and N-Gain Score index. Empirically, the average learning interest score leaped from 26.19 to 41.10. Hypothesis testing confirmed this with a t-value of 20.729 and a Sig. (1-tailed) value of 0.000 (< 0.05), completely rejecting the Null Hypothesis. Furthermore, the effectiveness test yielded an average N-Gain Score of 0.6808 (68.08%), placing it in the medium category near the high threshold. The novelty of this study lies in how AR successfully integrates the three pillars of deep learning (mindful, meaningful, and joyful learning) to sustain students' attention spans. In conclusion, AR media significantly boosts student learning interest. Educational practitioners are encouraged to widely adopt AR technology to support the Merdeka Curriculum's goals.
