Abstract

Located in Hiyung Village, Tapin Tengah District, Tapin Regency, South Kalimantan Province, Hiyung chili is one of the regional cayenne pepper germplasms. Hiyung cayenne pepper are cultivated on swampland area, organic matter-rich ground in Hiyung Village, Tapin Regency. Plants are typically planted when the land begins to dry up or right before the dry season. There are additional biotic elements in this ecosystem, particularly insects. Insects may have both positive and negative functions. This study was conducted between September 2025 and January 2026. The study was carried out at the Agroecotechnology Department's Greenhouse at Lambung Mangkurat University's Faculty of Agriculture in South Kalimantan. The aim of this study is determining the diversity of insects on Hiyung cayenne pepper ecosystem. A quantitative descriptive approach was adopted in this investigation. The Yellow Trap and Pitfall Trap were used to gather insect samples. The captures were then placed into sample vials in accordance with their different treatments and identified using an identifying key. The study's findings revealed an evenness index of 0.04, a species richness index of 1.15, a diversity index of 0.11, and a dominance score of 0.96. The dominance index is in the high category, but the diversity index, species richness index, and evenness index are in the low category. Additionally, this investigation identified 11 genera, 11 species, 8 families, and 6 orders.
