Abstract

The development of Society 5.0 has created new challenges for mosques in maintaining their relevance as centers of worship, education, and community empowerment. Previous studies on mosque prosperity have generally focused on conventional religious and social functions, while limited attention has been given to reconstructing this concept in response to the demands of Society 5.0. Therefore, this study aims to reconstruct the concept of mosque prosperity based on QS. An-Nūr verse 36 by providing a Qur’anic framework that is responsive to contemporary societal changes. This qualitative library research employs a tahlili exegetical approach, while the data are analyzed using a descriptive-analytical method. The data sources consist of the Qur’an, classical and contemporary tafsir literature, as well as scholarly works related to mosque prosperity and Society 5.0. The findings reveal that mosque prosperity in QS. An-Nūr verse 36 extends beyond ritual worship and encompasses four main dimensions: educational development, social empowerment, the economic strengthening of the Muslim community, and the utilization of digital technology for da‘wah and public services. The novelty of this study lies in integrating the Qur’anic concept of mosque prosperity with the Society 5.0 paradigm, resulting in a reconstruction model that emphasizes adaptive, innovative, and technology-oriented mosque management while remaining grounded in Qur’anic values. This model positions mosques as centers of Islamic civilization capable of addressing the challenges and opportunities of modern society.
