Postoperative pain is one of the common problems experienced by patients after cesarean section and may interfere with comfort, mobility, and the recovery process. Non-pharmacological interventions can be used as complementary methods to support postoperative pain management. This community service activity aimed to apply a combination of lavender aromatherapy and Benson relaxation to help reduce pain and improve patients’ knowledge regarding non-pharmacological pain management after cesarean section. The activity was conducted in the Al-Barokah inpatient ward at Rumah Sakit Islam Purwokerto from June 23 to August 3, 2026, involving 26 cooperative patients who had undergone elective cesarean section. The activity consisted of education, demonstration, implementation of lavender aromatherapy using three drops of lavender oil in a diffuser for 15 minutes, Benson relaxation, and pain assessment using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) before and after the intervention. The results showed an increase in patient knowledge, with the mean score increasing from 6.5 before education to 10.8 after education. Pain distribution also changed from predominantly severe pain before intervention to predominantly mild pain after intervention. Before intervention, 15 participants (57.7%) experienced severe pain and 11 participants (42.3%) experienced moderate pain. After intervention, 20 participants (77%) experienced mild pain and 6 participants (23%) experienced moderate pain, with no participants experiencing severe pain. The combination of lavender aromatherapy and Benson relaxation has potential as a simple complementary non-pharmacological intervention for postoperative pain management.
