Abstract

Financial literacy has become an essential family competency amid increasingly complex household needs and the rapid expansion of digital financial services. This study aims to analyze the urgency of financial literacy and its implications for family well-being and economic resilience from the perspective of Family Welfare Education. A qualitative literature review was employed by examining national and international journal articles, institutional reports, and official documents, with priority given to publications from 2020 to 2026. Data were analyzed through identification, selection, categorization, reduction, thematic synthesis, and conclusion drawing. The review indicates that financial literacy strengthens families' ability to prepare budgets, prioritize needs, control consumption and debt, build savings and emergency funds, and make more rational decisions when using digital financial services. Financial literacy is also associated with financial well-being and households' capacity to withstand and recover from economic shocks. From the Family Welfare Education perspective, financial literacy can be positioned as a family resource-management competency that supports independence, sustainable well-being, and economic resilience. These findings underline the importance of family-based financial education that goes beyond knowledge by strengthening behavior, practical skills, and adaptive capacity in dealing with financial risks.
