Abstract

This study was motivated by the importance of shooting accuracy in petanque, which requires varied training models to improve athlete performance. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of training models using barriers on the shooting skills of Parepare City Petanque athletes at distances of 8 and 9 meters. The method used was a quantitative experiment with a Two-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The research sample consisted of 20 active athletes divided into two groups: group A (barrier) and group B (board). The research instrument used a shooting game test, with data analysis techniques using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and t-test. The results showed that both groups experienced a significant increase, with group A increasing by 5.2 points and group B by 3.8 points. Discussion of the findings showed that although statistically the difference between the groups was not significant, the use of pole barriers descriptively provided a more effective visual challenge in honing accuracy. In conclusion, the training model using barriers, both poles and boards, was effective in improving the shooting skills of petanque athletes, with the pole barrier model showing a higher level of effectiveness in practice.
