Abstract

This study is motivated by the importance of using appropriate and varied learning media in Arabic language instruction at Islamic senior high schools, as media plays a strategic role in supporting the learning process, especially because Arabic has linguistic characteristics different from students’ native language, while in practice many schools, including those in Bireuen Regency, still face limitations in media use. The research aims to describe the types of Arabic learning media used by teachers at MAN 5 Bireuen, explain how they are used in learning, and identify the problems and obstacles faced by teachers. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the study involved the Arabic language teacher at MAN 5 Bireuen, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings show that teachers use five types of media visual, audio, audio-visual, digital, and realia with visual media being the most dominant; media use is guided by learning objectives, student ability levels, lesson plan design, creativity amid facility limitations, and media variation within one lesson; while the main obstacles include limited infrastructure and technology, time constraints, differences in student abilities and learning styles, and the lack of structured professional training in Arabic learning media development.
