Abstract

This research was motivated by the low skill of reading Qur'anic verses among third-grade students at SD Negeri Jayagiri, with an average score of 22.60 out of a maximum of 40 and only 3.3% of students reaching the very high category. The lowest indicators were understanding the meaning of verses (1.60) and applying tajwid rules (1.92), both in the very low category. The objective was to describe and analyze the effect of Strip Story Media on students' Qur'anic reading skills. A quantitative method with a one-group pretest-posttest design was used on 30 students (saturated sampling). The observation instrument with a 1-4 scale rubric (10 items, inter-observer reliability 83.6%) measured indicators of makhraj, tajwid, tartil, and meaning comprehension. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired sample t-test. Results showed mean pretest of 22.60 (low) and posttest of 33.00 (high), with an increase of 10.40 points (51.6%) and N-Gain of 0.13 (low). Mastery (very high category) increased from 3.3% to 53.3%. All indicators increased, highest in meaning comprehension (64.4%) and tajwid application (54.2%). The t-test yielded Sig. 0.000 (<0.05), thus Hâ‚€ was rejected. Conclusion: Strip Story Media has a significant effect on improving students' Qur'anic reading skills. Recommendations: teachers adopt this media consistently, further researchers conduct comparative studies.
