Abstract

This study aims to analyze local community perceptions of tourism development in Semangat Gunung Tourism Village, Merdeka Subdistrict, Karo Regency, based on economic, socio-cultural, environmental, infrastructure, and institutional aspects. A descriptive quantitative approach with a survey method was employed, involving 96 heads of households as the total sample. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, observation, and documentation, then analyzed descriptively using a Likert scale. The results show that community perception falls into the positive category, with an average score of 78.95%. The economic aspect obtained the highest score (81.75%), followed by infrastructure (81.50%), institutional (78.50%), socio-cultural (78.25%), and environmental aspects (74.75%). The community perceives the greatest benefits in income growth and infrastructure development, while waste management still requires further attention.
