Abstract

This study analyzes Islamic political communication in Iran, focusing on its characteristics as an Islamic Republic, the role of the 1979 Islamic Revolution, the concept of wilayat al-faqih, and the function of symbols of resistance. Using a qualitative approach based on library research and content analysis, this study finds that Islamic political communication in Iran is built through the integration of Islamic values, state institutions, clerics, media, and society. The 1979 Islamic Revolution serves as the historical foundation for the formation of political identity, religious communication networks, and an Islamic value-based political communication culture. The concept of wilayat al-faqih functions as a source of religious-political legitimacy as well as a center of ideological communication connecting the state and society. Symbols of resistance originating from the Karbala narrative, the struggle of Imam Husain, the concept of martyrdom, and the defense of the oppressed play a role in building collective identity, shaping public opinion, and strengthening the political legitimacy of the state. The findings show that Islamic political communication in Iran combines religion, media, ideology, and power to maintain the political stability and sustainability of the Islamic Republic of Iran. This study enriches the development of Islamic political communication theory, particularly in understanding the relationship between Islamic values, political legitimacy, and identity construction in the context of a modern state
