Abstract

Thematic learning tools are an approach that integrates various subjects in a specific theme, so as to provide a more meaningful learning experience for students. In the context of Indonesian education, the implementation of a curriculum based on Freedom of Learning encourages the creation of learning tools that are more flexible, innovative, and centered on the needs and potential of students. This research aims to explore the relationship between thematic learning tools and the concept of Freedom of Learning in improving the quality of education. The results of the study show that thematic learning tools developed in accordance with the principles of Freedom of Learning can encourage more inclusive, collaborative, and contextual learning. With this approach, students not only learn separately based on subjects, but more relate the knowledge they have acquired to everyday life. In addition, Merdeka Learning provides flexibility for teachers to adapt learning methods that suit the characteristics and needs of students. Overall, the development of thematic learning tools within the framework of Freedom of Learning can increase student engagement, enrich the learning experience, and facilitate the development of 21st century competencies, such as critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration.
