Abstract

Globalization has brought significant changes in various aspects of life, including in the development of Islamic studies and research. The development of science, information technology, and global social dynamics requires a transformation of Islamic research methodology in order to be able to answer various contemporary problems without ignoring the fundamental values of Islamic teachings. This research aims to find out the transformation of Islamic research methodology in the face of the era of globalization, analyze the challenges of Islamic research methodology in the midst of global scientific and technological developments, and explain strategies for developing Islamic research methodologies that are relevant, adaptive, and still based on Islamic values. This research uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of observation and documentation through the study of various literature, scientific journals, books, and sources relevant to the research theme. The data obtained are analyzed descriptively to produce a comprehensive understanding of the phenomenon being studied. The results show that the transformation of Islamic research methodology is marked by a shift from a normative and textual approach to a more contextual, integrative, and multidisciplinary approach by making religious moderation (wasathiyah) as the basis for its development. The study also found that the main challenges facing Islamic research include the influence of orientalism, low interest in Islamic studies compared to modern sciences, and increasingly competitive global academic competition. To face these challenges, strategies are needed in the form of strengthening Islamic education, improving the quality of research and innovation, utilizing digital technology, developing the Islamic economy, and strengthening spiritual and moral values. Thus, Islamic research methodologies are expected to be able to develop adaptively and make a real contribution in answering global challenges while maintaining the relevance of Islamic teachings in modern life.
