Abstract

The utilization of multimodal learning media by elementary school teachers remains limited, particularly in understanding its concepts, types, development techniques, and supporting digital applications. This community service activity aimed to improve the theoretical understanding and practical skills of teachers at SDN 1 Kekeri, West Lombok Regency, in designing technology-assisted multimodal learning media. The activity was conducted in person on July 4, 2026, involving 15 teachers and 1 principal through socialization, instructional sessions, hands-on media development, presentation, and evaluation. Participants’ understanding was evaluated using a pre-test and post-test design involving 15 teachers across five indicators, while practical skills were assessed through observation of media development and presentation. The results indicated positive changes across all indicators. The proportion of participants demonstrating understanding of basic media concepts increased from 33% to 80%, understanding of multimodal media definitions from 47% to 87%, types of multimodal media from 27% to 80%, media development techniques from 20% to 93%, and supporting applications from 27% to 87%. In addition, 87% of participants expressed confidence in developing and utilizing multimodal media in their classrooms, compared with 20% who initially reported having some understanding and ability to use such media. The main output was multimodal learning media integrating text, visuals, audio, and QR codes. These findings indicate measurable positive changes in teachers’ understanding and readiness, although sustained classroom implementation requires further follow-up assistance
