Abstract

This research and development study used the ADDIE model to develop an ethnoscience-based digital module on ecosystems for Grade V students. The module connects scientific concepts with local cultural contexts in Depok, including Ngubek Empang, family medicinal plants (TOGA), and narratives about the Ciliwung River. Instruments comprised expert validation forms, teacher and student questionnaires, and scientific literacy pretests and posttests. Reported expert ratings were 92.25% for content, 95% for media, and 100% for language, with a reported content validity index of 1.00. Teacher and student response percentages were reported as 88% and 87.8%, respectively. In a one-group trial involving 30 students, mean scores increased from 66.3 to 84.53; a paired-samples t-test yielded t = ?14.123, p < 0.001. The reported normalized gain was 0.7051. These results indicate favorable expert and user evaluations and a within-group increase in scientific literacy scores. However, discrepancies among reported gain and response statistics require verification. Without a comparison group, the findings do not establish that the module alone caused the improvement. The module warrants further evaluation as a culturally contextualized learning resource.
