Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between tenure and employment status and employee discipline through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. The study is motivated by the importance of work discipline as a key factor in improving organizational effectiveness, productivity, and overall performance. Tenure and employment status are considered important determinants of employee discipline because they are closely related to work experience, organizational commitment, responsibility, and job security. The research employed the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method by examining 10 scientific articles published between 2020 and 2025. The literature search was conducted systematically through the Google Scholar, Portal Garuda, and SINTA databases using relevant keywords related to the research topic. The inclusion criteria comprised empirical studies published in both Indonesian and English that discussed tenure, employment status, and employee work discipline. The review findings indicate that tenure has a positive and significant effect on employee discipline, with employees who have longer work experience generally demonstrating higher levels of discipline than those with shorter tenure. Furthermore, employment status, particularly the distinction between permanent and contract employees, was also found to significantly influence work discipline behavior. Overall, the findings suggest that both tenure and employment status play an important role in shaping employee discipline. Therefore, organizations should consider these factors when developing human resource management strategies to sustainably improve employee discipline and support better organizational performance.
