Abstract

Digital transformation has created new challenges for civic education, particularly in preparing students to evaluate digital information, behave ethically, and maintain their national identity. This study aimed to examine the effects of digital civic education and Pancasila value integration on critical thinking, digital ethical awareness, and national identity among university students. A quantitative explanatory approach was employed involving 240 students enrolled in Civic Education or Pancasila Education courses. Respondents were selected through purposive sampling, and data were collected using a five-point Likert-scale questionnaire. The research model was evaluated using partial least squares structural equation modeling through measurement and structural model assessments. The findings showed that digital civic education strengthened students’ critical thinking, while Pancasila value integration enhanced digital ethical awareness and national identity. Critical thinking and digital ethical awareness also contributed positively to national identity formation. These results demonstrate that technological competence must be integrated with ethical values, reflective judgment, and civic responsibility. The study implies that higher education institutions should redesign civic education curricula by incorporating digital literacy, critical information evaluation, digital ethics, contextual Pancasila values, and authentic digital civic participation.
