Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to develop and preliminarily evaluate a web-based Electronic Growth Monitoring Card (E-KMS) integrating the World Health Organization (WHO) Child Growth Standards to support digital child growth monitoring in Posyandu services. Design/methods/approach – The system was developed using the Waterfall model and implemented with Laravel and MySQL. It integrates automated LMS-based WHO Z-score computation for weight-for-age, height-for-age, and weight-for-height/length, digital growth visualization, role-based health-record management, and WhatsApp Gateway notifications. Evaluation included Black Box Testing, computational agreement testing using synthetic anthropometric cases, and usability assessment using the System Usability Scale (SUS). Findings – The functional evaluation showed that the system operated according to the specified requirements across positive, negative, and boundary testing scenarios. Anthropometric classifications generated by the system were consistent with manual calculations based on the same WHO reference standards, demonstrating internal computational consistency. The usability evaluation indicated excellent and acceptable perceived usability among Posyandu cadres, health workers, and parents. Research implications/limitations – The findings support the feasibility of integrating standardized growth assessment and digital communication within community-based child health monitoring. However, the evaluation was limited to controlled testing, synthetic validation cases, and perceived usability; therefore, the results should not be interpreted as independent clinical validation or evidence of long-term adoption. Originality/value – This study integrates WHO-based anthropometric assessment, digital growth visualization, automated parent communication, functional testing, computational agreement evaluation, and standardized usability assessment within a single web-based Posyandu platform.
