Abstract

Menstrual hygiene is a crucial aspect of adolescent girls' reproductive health, requiring adequate knowledge to foster appropriate self-care practices. Limited information, social stigma, and a lack of engaging educational materials remain obstacles to improving adolescents' understanding of menstrual hygiene management. This study aimed to determine the impact of using the OKY application on increasing adolescent girls' knowledge regarding menstrual hygiene at SMPN 1 Darul Kamal, Aceh Besar Regency. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental, one-group pretest-posttest design was employed. The study sample consisted of 51 female students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a knowledge questionnaire administered before and after the educational intervention via the OKY application and were subsequently analyzed using the Paired Sample t-test. The results showed that the mean knowledge score increased from 50.10 prior to the intervention to 54.86 following the intervention. Statistical analysis yielded a p-value of 0.000 (p<0.05), indicating a significant difference in knowledge levels before and after using the OKY application. The implementation of the OKY application serves as an effective digital-based reproductive health educational tool, as it provides information in an interactive, easily understandable manner that aligns with the characteristics of adolescents.
