Abstract

Purpose: to examine the effects of digital innovation, halal certification, and pentahelix collaboration on MSME competitiveness and to analyze their indirect effects on halal culinary tourism destination development through MSME competitiveness. Method: this study used a quantitative explanatory approach, with a cross-sectional survey of 150 culinary MSMEs in Semarang City, Indonesia, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed using PLS-SEM with SmartPLS to assess the measurement model and test the hypothesized direct and indirect relationships. Findings: digital innovation, halal certification, and pentahelix collaboration positively influence MSME competitiveness, which in turn contributes positively to halal culinary tourism destination development. Furthermore, MSME competitiveness significantly mediates the relationships between these three factors and destination development, highlighting the importance of integrating digital capabilities, halal assurance, and stakeholder collaboration to strengthen culinary MSMEs and support sustainable halal culinary tourism. Implications: the importance of digital innovation, halal certification, and stakeholder collaboration in strengthening MSME competitiveness and halal culinary tourism development. Originality: lies in integrating digital innovation, halal certification, and pentahelix collaboration into a unified framework, positioning MSME competitiveness as a mediating mechanism for halal culinary tourism destination development.
