Abstract

Untill 2010, Jambi Province had expanded its territory into 11 districts/cities untill 2010. One of the aims of regional expansion is forming new autonomous regions that have the independence regulating their own regions, especially in the economic sector. The regional economy is expected to grow and change so that regional income will increase. Economic growth is one of the general policy directions for the 2016- 2021 RPJMD Jambi Province which is in line with the national development agenda. The economic growth of Jambi Province in the last 4 years always been below the national growth. The achievement of economic growth in a region is of course supported by various factors. By using the Cobb-Douglas production function model, this study aims to examine that human capital as shown by the number of labor force and physical capital shown by the value of PMTB has a positive effect on economic growth in districts/cities in Jambi Province. The interaction between these variables can be used as input for the government in increasing the economic growth of districts/cities in Jambi Province. The econometric method used is panel data analysis in Jambi Province for the period 2016-2018. This study concludes that the variables of human capital and physical capital have a positive and significant effect on economic growth. Physical capital has a higher elasticity coefficient than the human capital variable. This shows that physical capital has a highest role in increasing the economic growth of districts/cities in Jambi Province or districts/cities economic in Jambi Province tend to in “capital intensive”.
