Abstract

In the era of digitalization, the need for reliable and efficient networks in educational institutions, including high schools, is increasing. One of the biggest problems is the lack of a well-organized network structure. This causes traffic congestion, security limitations, and difficulties in managing network resources. To overcome these problems, a Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN)-based network design offers a solution that improves the efficiency, security, and flexibility of school networks. This separation is intended to reduce security risks, improve network performance, and simplify network management. The research methodology uses a simulation approach using Cisco Packet Tracer software. The research process includes analyzing network requirements, designing network topologies, configuring VLANs on network devices such as switches and routers, and testing network performance based on certain parameters such as data transfer speed, latency, and security. This study found that a VLAN-based network design can improve traffic efficiency to reduce the possibility of interference between segments, and increase the flexibility of network management. The implementation of this design will provide a practical and economical solution for high schools to support their digital transformation
