Abstract

Type 1 Cardiorenal Syndrome (CRS) is a clinical condition characterized by acute kidney function decline resulting from sudden cardiac decompensation, with serum creatinine serving as the primary biomarker for Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) severity. This study aimed to determine the correlation between serum creatinine levels based on KDIGO AKI staging and length of hospital stay in Type 1 CRS patients at RSUD Banten. An analytical observational cross-sectional study was conducted using secondary data from medical records at RSUD Banten for the 2025 period; 93 respondents were enrolled by consecutive sampling. The independent variable was serum creatinine categorized by KDIGO criteria (Stage 1 vs. Stage 2 and 3 AKI), the dependent variable was length of stay (45 years, 79.5%), with hypertension prevalence of 68.8% and diabetes mellitus of 18.3%; 80 respondents (86.0%) were classified as Stage 2 and 3 AKI KDIGO, while 13 (14.0%) were Stage 1; statistical analysis revealed a significant correlation between serum creatinine levels and length of stay (p = 0.017; PR = 1.463; 95% CI: 0.94–2.26), with Stage 2 and 3 AKI showing a higher proportion of ≥5-day hospitalization (90.0%) compared to Stage 1 (61.5%). There is a statistically significant correlation between serum creatinine levels and length of stay in Type 1 CRS patients, where greater AKI severity is associated with longer hospitalization duration.
