Abstract

The postpartum period is a recovery phase of the reproductive organs following childbirth, lasting approximately six weeks. One of the common complications during the postpartum period is perineal wounds, which may cause pain and increase the risk of infection. Data from the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2020 reported 2.7 million cases of perineal wounds worldwide, and this number is projected to continue rising. In Indonesia, the prevalence of postpartum mothers experiencing perineal wound pain reaches 75% (Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, 2020). One non-pharmacological effort to accelerate wound healing is increasing vitamin C intake, one of which can be achieved through the consumption of guava juice, which is rich in antioxidants and plays an important role in collagen synthesis. This study aimed to determine the effect of guava juice administration on perineal wound healing among postpartum mothers at Sidodadi Community Health Center in 2025. This research employed a quantitative method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 30 postpartum mothers with perineal wounds selected using total sampling technique. Pain levels were measured using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) before and after a 14-day intervention of guava juice administration. Data were analyzed using the dependent t-test. The results showed a decrease in the mean pain scale from 6.2 (moderate pain) before the intervention to 2.1 (mild pain) after the intervention. Statistical analysis indicated a p-value < 0.05, meaning that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. In conclusion, there was a significant effect of guava juice administration on perineal wound healing among postpartum mothers at Sidodadi Community Health Center in 2025. It is recommended that guava juice be used as an adjunct therapy in the management of perineal wounds in postpartum mothers.
