<![CDATA[The direct causes of maternal mortality in Indonesia, as in other countries are bleeding, infection, and eclampsia. In bleeding and infection as causes of death, it actually includes deaths due to infected abortion and prolonged partus. While the incidence of prolonged partus or partus kasep is one of the causes of tension and fear that aggravates labor pain and ultimately slows the birth of the baby. Objective of the study: To determine "The Effect of the Application of Therapeutic Communication on the Intensity of Labor Pain in Period I ". Method : The research method used in this study is an analytical survey method that is one group pretest-postest, namely a research design that has a pretest before therapeutic communication and a posttest after therapeutic communication is carried out so that it can be known more accurately, because it can be compared with before and after it is done. Results: Based on the results of the pretest and posttest difference test using the paired sample t-test, it is known that the p value (0.000) < α (0.05) means that Ha is accepted, so it can be concluded that there is a significant difference in labor pain intensity before and after being given effective therapeutic communication to reduce the intensity of labor pain. Conclusion: There is an effect of therapeutic communication on the intensity of labor pain in the first stage of labor with a p value = 0.000 (p <0.05). The results of the analysis show that therapeutic communication is effective in reducing the pain of labor at stage I.]]>
