<![CDATA[Absract: : Handwashing with soap (HWWS) is one of the most effective clean and healthy lifestyle practices to prevent infectious diseases, including diarrhea, acute respiratory infections, intestinal worm infections, and foodborne illnesses. Elementary school children are particularly vulnerable due to limited awareness and inadequate hygiene practices. Preliminary observations at SD MIS Pendidikan Islamiah Swasta Sei Sembilang indicated that most students had insufficient knowledge regarding proper handwashing procedures and the appropriate times to wash their hands. Furthermore, the school lacked attractive educational media that could improve students' understanding. Picture books are considered suitable educational media because they combine illustrations and stories that are easily understood by children. Objective: This study aimed to develop a picture book as a health education medium for handwashing with soap among elementary school students and evaluate its feasibility based on expert validation and student responses. Methods: This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) design using the ADDIE development model consisting of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation stages. Needs analysis was conducted through in-depth interviews. The product was validated by media and subject matter experts before being tested on 35 fifth-grade students. Data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative and quantitative approaches. Results: Students preferred colorful illustrations, cartoon characters, simple language, and story-based learning materials. Based on these findings, a picture book entitled "Anak Hebat Pasti Cuci Tangan Pakai Sabun" was developed. Validation results indicated that the media met the criteria for excellent feasibility. Student evaluations also demonstrated that the picture book was attractive, easy to understand, enjoyable to read, and effective in improving students' understanding of handwashing with soap. Conclusion: The developed picture book is feasible to be used as a health promotion medium in elementary schools and has the potential to improve students' knowledge and awareness regarding proper handwashing practices.
