Abstract

Ideally, a student studying Indonesian subjects must be able to understand, apply, analyze and evaluate factual, conceptual and procedural knowledge based on his curiosity. Like the subjects the author teaches at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri I Kampar. However, in reality, in Indonesian language subjects, students' learning motivation in Indonesian language subjects is very low. From this problem the author uses the Numbered Head Together (NHT) learning model. Numbered Head Together (NHT) is the entire series of presentation of teaching materials which includes all aspects before, during and after learning carried out by the teacher as well as all related facilities which are used directly or indirectly in the teaching and learning process. From this, the problem can be formulated as to how the implementation of the Numbered Head Together (NHT) learning model can increase the motivation of students in class at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri I Kampar on the material Writing Short Story Texts through the Numbered Head Together (NHT) learning model. The application of the NHT type learning model can increase students' understanding of the subject matter presented so that student learning outcomes increase. In cycle I, meeting I completed 5 people (16.66%) increasing in meeting 2 to 12 people (40%) in cycle II meeting 1 also experienced an increase in students who completed 23 people (76.66%), then in cycle 2 meeting 2 those who completed it were 29 people (96.66%).
