Abstract

This study aims to comprehensively analyze the effectiveness of the use of the Smart Indonesia Card (KIP) in the context of school financial management, with a focus on the impact of its implementation on access to education for students from underprivileged families and the challenges faced by schools in managing and utilizing KIP funds. The research approach used is qualitative with a case study type in several Islamic boarding schools with different kyai leadership typologies. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with teachers and students, and documentation studies related to kyai leadership in the midst of the storm of modernity as argued by John W. Cresswel. The analysis uses interactive 3 models of Miles and Huberman. The results of the study show that KIP significantly increases access to education for underprivileged students, as reflected in the decrease in dropout rates and the increase in participation rates. However, this study also identified a number of challenges in its implementation, including delays in disbursement of funds, the complexity of financial reporting, and the lack of adequate socialization and assistance for schools. The contribution of this study lies in providing an in-depth understanding of the effectiveness of KIP from a school financial management perspective, identifying areas for improvement in policy and program implementation, and providing strategic recommendations to optimize the benefits of KIP in supporting equity and improving the quality of education in Indonesia
