Abstract

This study is motivated by the importance of the ideal teacher figure in Islamic education, who is not only a transmitter of knowledge but also a moral guide and spiritual mentor. Surah Ali Imran verse 164 serves as the primary basis for exploring the concept of the ideal teacher through the roles of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) as an educator: tilawah (reciting the verses), tazkiyah (purifying the soul), ta’lim al-kitab (teaching the Book), and ta’lim al-hikmah (teaching wisdom). The aim of this research is to identify and analyze the values of the ideal teacher in Islam and their relevance to modern education. This study employs a qualitative approach in the form of a literature review. Data sources include Islamic educational books, Qur’anic exegesis, and scholarly articles. The data analysis technique used is descriptive-analytical, aiming to elaborate on the understanding of teacher figures according to Islamic scholars, the characteristics of ideal teachers in Islam, and their applicability in contemporary education. The results show that the ideal teacher in Islam is someone who is close to students, possesses strong academic competence, builds character and spirituality, and can relate knowledge to real-life applications wisely. These values remain highly relevant in shaping professional and ethical teachers in today's educational context
