The work of Tafsir Raudlatul Irfan by KH Abdul Sanusi is one of the intellectual legacies of Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), illustrating how Nusantara scholars interpreted the Qur’an contextually while remaining rooted in classical Islamic traditions. This study explores KH Sanusi’s approach to Qur’anic interpretation by focusing on its methodology, interpretive style, and the socio-cultural background that shaped it. Employing a qualitative library research method, the study reveals that Raudlatul Irfan presents a synthesis of tafsir bi al-ma’thur and tafsir bi al-ra’yi, framed within a Sufi-oriented and morally didactic perspective. KH Sanusi positions tafsir not merely as an intellectual exercise but also as a means of moral formation and spiritual cultivation. Consequently, Raudlatul Irfan serves not only as an exegetical text but also as a reflection of the holistic worldview of pesantren that emphasizes the integration of knowledge, practice, and ethics. In the contemporary context, KH Sanusi’s interpretive approach highlights the importance of reading the Qur’an with local awareness, social empathy, and living spirituality. The findings imply that contextual and value-oriented Qur’anic interpretation can contribute to the development of Islamic education, character formation, and inclusive religious discourse in the digital era while preserving local wisdom and spiritual depth
