Abstract

This study aims to assess the various challenges faced by students in implementing the early school start policy, particularly in terms of the distance between home and school. The method used is descriptive qualitative, with data collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and document analysis involving students, parents, and school staff. The results show that long distances from home to school significantly impact student tardiness, physical fatigue, and reduced rest time. In addition, other issues such as limited access to transportation, inadequate road conditions, and lack of cooperation between parents and schools further exacerbate these challenges. The proposed plans include adjusting school start times based on residential zones, providing adequate transportation, and improving communication of policies to all relevant stakeholders. This study recommends that educational policymakers pay greater attention to students’ geographical and social factors before implementing early start policies comprehensively, in order to create a more responsive and equitable education system
