Abstract

Islamic educational institutions continue to face financial vulnerability due to their dependence on government subsidies and philanthropic funding. Although edupreneurship has been promoted as a solution, existing studies largely adopt secular entrepreneurial perspectives and rarely integrate Islamic theological foundations, historical entrepreneurial traditions, and pesantren leadership practices into a unified conceptual framework. This study aims to formulate a Spiritual Edupreneurship model based on Islamic normative texts and the managerial practices of KH. Mukhtar Syafa'at at Darussalam Blokagung Islamic Boarding School. This qualitative library research employed historical-biographical and content analysis approaches using primary sources from the Qur'an, Hadith, institutional archives, and biographical documents, supported by relevant scholarly literature. The findings reveal that institutional independence was achieved through the integration of spiritual values, social capital mobilization, captive market development, productive business diversification, and the reinvestment of business surplus into educational services. The study's main scientific contribution lies in proposing Spiritual Edupreneurship as a conceptual model that integrates Islamic theology, social entrepreneurship, Resource-Based View, and pesantren leadership into a comprehensive framework for educational financial sustainability. Theoretically, this model expands the discourse on Islamic educational management by introducing spirituality as a strategic dimension of institutional entrepreneurship. Practically, it offers a sustainable governance model for Islamic educational institutions seeking financial independence while preserving educational values and social responsibility
