Abstract

The low listening skills and motivation to learn English among high school students are caused by monotonous learning methods and a lack of exposure to authentic materials. This urgency necessitates research into the need to integrate digital media relevant to the learning styles of today's generation, one of which is podcasts. The aim is to test the effectiveness of podcast-assisted English learning design on students' listening skills and learning motivation. The approach used is quantitative with a quasi-experimental design. The sample consisted of 290 students divided into experimental and control groups. Data were collected through listening skills tests and learning motivation questionnaires before and after treatment. Data analysis techniques used descriptive statistics for independent t-tests, paired t-tests, ANOVA, and effect size calculations. The results showed a significant increase in the experimental group, with listening skills increasing from a mean of 68.45 to a mean of 82.30 and learning motivation from a mean of 70.12 to a mean of 85.45. Effect size values greater than 2 for both variables indicate a significant impact. It was found that podcasts effectively improve listening comprehension and students' intrinsic motivation. In conclusion, integrating podcasts in English learning provides significant benefits. The implications of this research encourage teachers to utilize digital media creatively to create interactive, flexible, and student-centered learning.
