Abstract

Background: Self-efficacy is an individual’s belief in their ability to complete tasks and face various demands, including academic challenges during adolescence. Junior high school students are in a developmental phase characterized by physical, emotional, and social changes, thus requiring good self-efficacy to adapt positively. Objective: This study aimed to describe the self-efficacy of students at SMP Negeri 1 Bukateja. Methods: This study used a descriptive quantitative design. The population consisted of 288 seventh-grade students, with 168 respondents selected using proportionate stratified random sampling. The research instrument was a 36-item self-efficacy questionnaire using a Likert scale. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis. Results: The results showed that most students had high self-efficacy (78.0%), while 22.0% had low self-efficacy. The majority of respondents were female (72.6%). Conclusion: Most students at SMP Negeri 1 Bukateja have high self-efficacy. Schools are recommended to enhance guidance programs, learning motivation, and counseling services to maintain and improve students’ self-efficacy.
