Abstract

The development of Islamic banking in Indonesia has not been fully accompanied by a comprehensive understanding of the community regarding profit-sharing principles and Islamic values. This study aims to analyze the understanding of the community of Sridadi Village regarding profit-sharing principles and Islamic values, examine their interest in saving in Islamic banking, and identify supporting and inhibiting factors. This study employed a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. Data analysis consisted of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the community's understanding of profit-sharing and Islamic values is relatively good at the conceptual level, particularly regarding the prohibition of riba, but remains limited in understanding the operational mechanism of profit-sharing. Interest in saving in Islamic banking has emerged but has not been optimal. Supporting factors include religious awareness, understanding of the prohibition of riba, confidence in the profit-sharing principle, and business needs. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors include limited socialization and education, inadequate knowledge of Islamic banking products and mechanisms, and established habits of using conventional banking services. These findings indicate that strengthening Islamic financial literacy and community-based education is important to encourage greater interest in Islamic banking.
