Abstract

This study aims to analyze the characteristics of effective schools in improving the learning outcomes of elementary school students at SDN 2 Sukarame. The study employs a qualitative approach using a case study design. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation, with informants comprising the principal, teachers, students, and parents. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the characteristics of an effective school at SDN 2 Sukarame include participatory leadership by the principal, a positive school culture, teacher professionalism, a conducive learning environment, the use of learning media, and parental involvement in student education. The principal’s leadership plays a crucial role in fostering a collaborative work culture, improving the quality of learning, and promoting the development of teachers’ competencies. A school culture characterized by discipline, literacy, and character development has a positive impact on student motivation and discipline. Teachers have implemented active learning and utilized educational media to enhance student understanding, although the implementation of educational technology still faces challenges due to limited facilities and teachers’ digital competencies. Additionally, parental involvement through communication and collaboration with the school also supports improvements in student learning outcomes. This study concludes that school effectiveness is shaped by the integration of leadership, school culture, teacher professionalism, the learning environment, instructional innovation, and sustained parental support. The findings of this study are expected to serve as a reference for improving the quality of basic education and strengthening effective schools in the Society 5.0 era.
