Abstract

Objective: This study analyzed the learning and media needs of Grade X students as a basis for developing interactive learning media based on Google Sites integrated with entrepreneurship in fungi learning. Methods: A descriptive needs-assessment study was conducted at SMA Negeri 13 Kota Jambi. Data were obtained from a biology teacher interview and a questionnaire administered to 35 Grade X students. Quantitative responses were analyzed descriptively using percentages, while interview data were summarized thematically. Results: All students owned smartphones and reported enjoying learning through digital devices and real-life contextualization. However, only 37.1% reported adequate school Wi-Fi access, indicating an infrastructure consideration for web-based learning. Existing media were dominated by printed books/LKS (82.9%), PowerPoint (48.6%), and learning videos (40.0%), while no student reported the use of interactive websites. All students expressed interest in learning fungi through Google Sites, and 97.1% considered such media necessary to facilitate understanding. Regarding content needs, 45.7% experienced difficulty understanding fungi, 68.6% considered teacher explanations insufficient, and 94.3% wanted learning that could be accessed easily anytime and anywhere. Novelty: The study translates these needs into a design requirement that combines web interactivity, audiovisual resources, contextual fungi applications, entrepreneurship, and activities targeting creative thinking.
