Abstract

Efficient fuel oil (BBM) distribution is a crucial aspect of ensuring the reliability of energy supply. This study aims to determine the optimal distribution routes for Pertamax from Fuel Terminal Natar to 23 gas stations (SPBUs) in Lampung Province using the Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP) approach with the Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) algorithm. The study employed a quantitative approach using data on SPBU locations, daily demand, the 24 kL tanker truck capacity, and distance matrices between distribution points. The optimization process was formulated as a Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem (CVRP) and implemented using the Python programming language. The results indicate that the ACO algorithm successfully generated eight optimal distribution trips served by four tanker trucks. The total distribution distance was reduced from 604.86 km/day under the existing system to 288.83 km/day, resulting in a distance saving of 316.03 km/day and a distribution efficiency of 52.25%. In addition, the average vehicle utilization increased to 94.19%, while the required fleet size decreased from 23 units to 4 units.
