Abstract

General Background Fluid flow regulation through spray systems represents a crucial operational aspect across various engineering applications, ranging from manufacturing processes to agricultural irrigation. Specific Background Optimization depends heavily on precise control components such as nozzle adjuster knobs, which enable accurate adjustments of spray patterns, flow rates, and operating pressures. Knowledge Gap Although spray systems are widely utilized, comprehensive empirical evaluations connecting adjuster knob hydrodynamic impacts with component reliability frameworks remain limited. Aims This study aims to examine the working mechanism of the nozzle adjuster knob, evaluate its influence on fluid distribution, and analyze its contribution to energy and material efficiency. Results Experimental findings indicate that varying the adjuster knob position significantly affects system performance, demonstrating that a seventy-five percent opening achieves the optimal distribution uniformity index with a balanced flow rate and pressure. Novelty This research integrates hydrodynamic analysis with reliability-centered maintenance principles to establish the adjuster knob as a strategic element for sustainable spray optimization. Implications The findings provide a reliable technical reference for practitioners to reduce material waste and maintain consistent fluid-based equipment performance. Key Findings Highlights Flow rate increases proportionally with adjuster knob opening degrees, while operating pressure experiences a gradual decrease. A seventy-five percent opening position yields the highest distribution uniformity index, ensuring optimal droplet dispersion across the target. Integrating reliability-centered maintenance principles effectively prevents mechanical failures such as thread wear and rotational jamming.
