Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has encouraged the emergence of new forms of economic transactions, including the purchase of in-game currency through game top-up services. Third-party service providers such as ArgamingShop facilitate players in obtaining in-game currency; however, the transaction mechanism requires examination from the perspective of Islamic sale contract principles. This study aims to analyze the transaction mechanism of in-game currency in ArgamingShop's game top-up service and to examine its conformity with the principles of Islamic sale contracts. This research employed a qualitative field research approach using a case study method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with source triangulation employed to ensure data validity. The findings reveal that the transaction mechanism consists of product selection, game account identification, payment, payment verification, and delivery of in-game currency. From the perspective of fiqh muamalah, the transaction fulfills the essential elements of a valid sale contract, including competent contracting parties, a lawful object, a clearly determined price (thaman), and mutual consent (ijab and qabul). Furthermore, the transaction satisfies the legal requirements of Islamic contracts, namely legal capacity, mutual willingness, certainty of the object and price, lawful contractual purpose, and the absence of prohibited elements such as riba, gharar, and maisir. Therefore, the transaction mechanism of in-game currency at ArgamingShop is consistent with the principles of Islamic sale contracts.
