Abstract

Global supply chain disruptions driven by geopolitical conflicts, economic blocs, and protectionist policies pose challenges to the resilience of Islamic Financial Institutions (IFIs) through their effects on the real sector, particularly micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). This study aims to analyze how these disruptions are transmitted to IFIs through changes in business conditions, debtor repayment capacity, financing risk, and asset quality. It also examines IFI resilience in terms of risk anticipation, pressure management, and adaptation to economic changes. This study employs a qualitative approach using library research, drawing on scientific journal articles and official institutional reports published between 2021 and 2026. The data are analyzed using descriptive-analytical content analysis to synthesize the relationships among global supply chain disruptions, the real sector, financing risk, and IFI resilience. The findings indicate that rising logistics and production costs, raw material shortages, and distribution delays can weaken MSME production capacity and cash flow, potentially impairing debtors’ repayment capacity, increasing non-performing financing (NPF) risk, and deteriorating asset quality. The analysis further reveals that Islamic finance characteristics, including links to real economic activities, profit-and-loss-sharing mechanisms, and restrictions on speculative practices, may support resilience but do not eliminate exposure to external shocks. This study contributes an integrated analytical perspective by explaining the transmission of global supply chain shocks to IFI resilience through real-sector pressures and debtor repayment behavior. It concludes that IFI resilience is adaptive and context-dependent, requiring early risk monitoring, assessment of repayment capacity, portfolio diversification, and financing strategies responsive to changing economic conditions.
