Abstract

Background: Total placenta previa and placenta accreta are serious obstetric complications associated with severe maternal bleeding and increased maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality. Purpose: To describe the clinical presentation, diagnosis, and management of total placenta previa with suspected placenta accreta in a high-risk pregnancy. Methods: This study used a descriptive case report design involving a 30-year-old woman in her third pregnancy who presented with bleeding at 37 weeks of gestation. Data were collected retrospectively from medical records, interviews, and clinical and supporting examinations, including obstetric history and ultrasound findings. Data were analyzed descriptively and presented narratively according to the clinical course. Results: The patient had a history of cesarean section and was diagnosed with total placenta previa and suspected placenta accreta based on ultrasound examination. Severe, uncontrolled bleeding required emergency cesarean section and hysterectomy to control hemorrhage and save the mother's life. This case highlights the importance of early diagnosis, close monitoring, timely intervention, and multidisciplinary collaboration in managing high-risk pregnancies to reduce maternal and fetal complications. Conclusion: This case highlighst the importance of early diagnosis, close monitoring, timely intervention, and multidisciplinary collaboration in managing high-risk pregnancies to reduce maternal and fetal complications.
