Abstract

Abstract

This research aims to apply the Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) algorithm in sentiment analysis of the Student Evaluation of Teaching (EDOM) at Primakara University, with the goal of improving higher education quality through the evaluation of faculty performance. Primary data was collected through interviews with the Quality Assurance Agency, while secondary data was obtained from EDOM for the academic years 2020/2021 to 2022/2023. A sentiment classification model was constructed using LSTM, initially dividing the data into 20 categories. To balance the data distribution, these categories were then merged into 6 main categories. The model was trained and tested using cross-validation, achieving an accuracy of 97%. However, when the model was tested with 100 new EDOM data points, the accuracy decreased to 74%, which is suspected to be caused by the emergence of new vocabulary that was not recognized or stored in the trained machine learning model. This decline in accuracy indicates the limitations of the model in handling new EDOM data that differs from the training data, and highlights the importance of periodic model updates or the use of out-of-vocabulary techniques to improve model performance in the future.

Abstract

Smart Village or what is often called an intelligent village is a concept that encourages villages to transform through innovation by using technology. The aim is to improve the quality of services to the community through sustainable community empowerment. Smart village concept indicators involve various aspects of life starting from assessing the village economy, community, and government. Currently, the central and regional governments are focusing their attention on developing smart villages in several villages in provinces in Indonesia. The government through the Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration has issued guidelines for villages to find out what things are of concern in realizing a smart village in a village, but in its implementation, several villages do not yet know how to carry out measurements and assessments related to the implementation of a smart village. In this regard, a framework for measuring smart village indicators is needed which can be used to measure the readiness of a village in developing a smart village program. The results of this research are in the form of a measurement framework that can be directly used by regional and village governments. The method used in this research is qualitative with descriptive analysis, data collection was carried out using interview and observation methods.
