Abstract

Digital technology expands students’ opportunities for communication while creating a need for legal and ethical awareness in online interactions. This community service activity aimed to strengthen digital literacy and legal awareness among students at SMP Negeri 5 Solear through participatory educational outreach. Group 24 of the Universitas Tangerang Raya community service program conducted the activity in Tangerang Regency on November 26, 2025, involving 50 students from grades VII–IX. The program comprised preparation, presentations, case discussions, questions and answers, and evaluation and reflection. A qualitative descriptive approach was used to evaluate observations, student facilitator reflections, and interviews with accompanying teachers through data reduction and thematic interpretation. Observations indicated active participation in discussions and emerging understanding of the legal consequences of online posts, ethical commenting, and caution when sharing information. These findings describe participants’ immediate responses and do not establish sustained behavioral change or statistically significant improvement. Participatory educational outreach may support digital legal awareness through collaboration between universities and schools. Further activities require structured evaluation and continued mentoring.
