Abstract

This study aims to determine the promotion strategy of Jarum’s tourism village and to find out the obstacles it faces. This research uses descriptive qualitative to describe the promotion strategy and its obstacles. The data is collected by interview, observation and documentation. Based on the data obtained, the promotion strategy that has been carried out in the tourism village of Jarum has been relatively using internet/social media to introduce its products such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram. The exhibition/event is also very helpful in promoting the products. In overcoming the existing obstacles, a facilitation in the management of tourism villages is needed. Government or private assistance is expected to cover all of these obstacles, such as limited human resources, networks and the absence of intensive assistance. Abstract

Pembangunan Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) di Kabupaten Kulon Progo diharapkan mampumenjadikan perekonomian di daerah sekitar semakin meningkat. Salah satu yang perlu disiapkan adalahSumber Daya Manusia(SDM) supaya memiliki skill terutama bidang hospitality agar warga terdampak proyekpembangunan YIA dapat terserap dan mendapat manfaat dari dikembangkannya proyek YIA.Penelitian inimenggunakan metode analisis deskriptif kualitatif dengan analisis IFAS dan EFAS. Hasil dari penelitian ini,program dinas pariwisata Kulon Progo terdiri dari 2 bidang yaitubidang usaha jasa pariwisata berupamonitoring usaha jasa pariwisata meliputi pelaksanaan bimtek usaha pariwisata dan juga bimtek berkaitandengan legalitas usaha jasa pariwisata.Bidang pengembangan kapasitas dan ekonomi kreatif berupa programpelatihan pengelolaan homestay, paket desa wisata, pengetahuan tentang teknologi informasi, pengelolaanoutbound, serta pengelolaan kuliner dan belanja.Dampak pengembangan kapasitas SDM melalui pelatihanbidang kepariwisataan di kawasan Airport city Kabupaten Kulon Progo yaitumeningkatnya SDM yang memilikikompetensi, Training Skill, serta SDM yang tersertifikasi.Kata Kunci: Pariwisata, Pegembangan, SDM

Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sikap masyarakat terhadap pengembangan kawasan Airport City, strategi pengembangan pariwisata dan untuk mengetahui strategi peningkatan SDM bidang perhotelan dan restoran.   Jenis data yang dikumpulkan adalah data kualitatif, dengan analisis SWOT. Berdasarkan wawancara dengan 40 responden yang terdiri dari 31 orang anggota PHRI dan 9 orang tokoh masyarakat, 30 orang menyatakan sangat setuju dengan dibangunnya bandara YIA di Kulon Progo, dan 10 orang menyatakan setuju. Pengembangan pariwisata kawasan Airport City dilakukan dengan membentuk BPC PHRI Cabang Kulon Progo sehingga berdampak pada pertumbuhan hotel dan restoran yang ada di Kulon Progo. Berdasarkan gambar matrik SWOT, hasil analisis terpetakan pada kuadran I kondisi yang kuat dan berpeluang, rekomendasi strategi yang diberikan adalah progresif, yaitu berfokus pada strategi SO, dengan meningkatkan sinergi antara PHRI dengan dinas terkait dalam pelatihan pengolahan makanan untuk chef dan barista, serta bimtek online single Submission (OSS).Kata Kunci: Airport City, Pengembangan, Peningkatan SDM DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY OF THE AIRPORT CITY AREA THROUGH HUMAN RESOURCE IMPROVEMENT OF HOSPITALITY AND RESTAURANT IN KULON PROGO DISTRICTABSTRACTThis study aims to know the attitude of the community towards the development of the Airport City area, tourism development strategies and to find out strategies for improving the Human Resource in the hotel and restaurant sector. The type of data collected is qualitative data, with SWOT analysis. Based on interviews with 40 respondents consisting of 31 members of PHRI and 9 community leaders, 30 respondents stated strongly agree with the construction of the YIA airport in Kulon Progo, and 10 respondents stated agreed. The Airport City tourism development was carried out by forming a BPC PHRI (A Branch Leadership Management?s The Association Of Hotels And Restaurants Indonesia) Kulon Progo Branch so that it affected to the growth of hotels and restaurants in Kulon Progo. Based on the SWOT matrix image, the results of the analysis are mapped to first quadrant, strong conditions and have a chance, the recommendations of the strategy given are progressive, namely focusing on the SO strategy. by increasing the synergy between PHRI and related agencies in food processing training for chefs and baristas, as well as technical guidance of online single Submission (OSS).Keywords: Airport City, Development, Human Resource Improvement

Abstract

The objective of this research is to describe “the existence of pedicab in developing tourism in Malioboro” which is viewed from the perception of pedicab driver toward the tourism in Malioboro and the strength and the obstacle of pedicab. Malioboro is one of the tourist objects in the City of Yogyakarta that currently still to place the public transportation non motorized such as pedicab in developing the tourism in Malioboro. Its existence is also one of the tourism activities in the region have made as the beautiful one for tourists. This research is a descriptive qualitative. The data is collected through an observation, an interview and literature review. The result of the research shows that the perception of pedicab driver toward its tourism is good. There is progress of tourism in Malioboro street. Second, it can be viewed from the strengths and the obstacles of pedicab. The strength shows that pedicab is a means of promotion and advertisement of tourism in Malioboro. The pedicab is an icon of Yogyakarta, especially in Malioboro. The obstacle is the existence of competitor in the field. This condition makes the difficulties for the pedicab as non motorized transportation. In economic aspect, this phenomenon will influence the economic life of the pedicab driver. Keywords: perception, tourism and transportation.

Abstract

The research aims to investigate the efficacy of scripted role play in boosting students' confidence in speaking English at Yogyakarta Tourism Academy, focusing on third-grade students. Additionally, the study seeks to identify and address obstacles hindering students' speaking practice. This is qualitative descriptive employing interviews, observations, and literature reviews to gather data. The finding shows that scripted role-play can enhance students' speaking skills holds broader implications for language education and instructional practices. It suggests that structured and scaffolded activities like scripted role-play offer valuable opportunities for targeted language practice within a supportive learning environment. This implies that lecturers can incorporate scripted role-play into their curriculum to provide students with focused speaking practice, particularly for pronunciation, fluency, and intonation. The scripted role-play fosters collaboration and active participation among students, so it can contribute to a communicative and interactive classroom environment. Finally, scripted role-play can build students' confidence by providing clear guidelines and achievable goals. Students' confidence might be increased by knowing what to anticipate in a role-play scenario. Their comfort level with the script increases along with their confidence in their language skills leading them to more casual talks. Indeed, pronunciation can present a daunting obstacle for language learners. Scripted role-playing is a useful method in language training. It offers a safe environment for students to hone their language abilities, particularly their pronunciation while boosting their self-esteem and getting them ready for interpersonal interactions in the real world. However, scripted roleplay offers a promising solution and avenue for advancement.
